Image Sizes and Download Times

The images of the map of St. Marylebone displayed here are scans of each section of the map divided into halves for easy display, due to the large size (28.5cm x 24cm) of the dissected map sections. The two separate images that make up each map section have been further divided into quarters for speed of loading, and have an average combined size of approximately 750KB. At 56KB dial-up connection speed each page will take about 95 seconds to fully load, although some pages can take up to approximately 130 seconds to load.

This map also includes further clickable enlarged views of the quartered map images. These are accessed by clicking the 4 quarters of each map image (top left, top right, bottom left, and bottom right quarters). The enlarged images vary in size from 245KB to 650KB, taking between 50 seconds and 100 seconds to load at a 56KB connection speed.

This is a very large map, and to do it justice it has been necessary to display it with larger file sizes than usually found on the MAPCO website. I do apologise for this, but I hope that you find the map useful.

Please be patient while the pages load. This is a very beautiful map, as it is well worth the wait.
